Launch party!!! Samsung Galaxy S4 in Greece!
Awesomeness in all it's greatness! My overall opinion about this phone is I love it, I want it, I'm in love!
Oh yes. I am a Samsung Mobiler now (yeaeeee)!Here is half the group (I'm the red-head in the middle) on our first presentation of the phone. We got to see first hand all these amazing features!!!
About the launch event...This is the first image someone walking in would see.
It took place in Acro.

And this is the first image that made my jaw touch the floor.As the geek that I am I was in wonderland of phones and gadgets that evening!

All the new features you see in the commercials and don't believe? ALL TRUE! My top favourites:
- Air gestures: It's fun to change a page or a pictures same way you would change a real book page but without actually touching anything.
- S-health: Well, I do exercise and walk a lot but I can't keep a calendar of what I eat or of how much I exercise. Mainly because it's boring and I can't be counting my steps. The phone does though! It even calculates what I burn through different types of exercises and how many calories I eat etc! It's quite the motivator for a healthier living I'm telling you!
- Drama Shot: This goes on the top jaw dropping! It is something really really awesoooome!Drama Shot lets you take a series of pictures of any moving subject and puts them together. Your dog jumping up and down? Your baby walking? You friends doing a stunt and falling in their faces? :p
- WatchON: the troller as I call it. You do realise that we ALWAYS misplace the TV remote. We sit on it mainly or it's lost between the sheets etc. Same goes for the phone most of the times but you can actually call your phone and find it. Now in case you misplaced the remote you can use your galaxy S4 to change the channel! I don't call it troller for that though... If you have siblings that have very strong opinions on what you will be watching (I do) you can use it to change the channel to what YOU like to see (Eat that little brother!).
It's the first time a company has changed and improved so many things from last to next model! But you know what? Don't take my word for it! Go to a store and try it for yourself!

My bestie told me that. I was so mad at the screen messing up everything. It was kinda fun though. From 10.6" to 12",23" and 27" now how will I fix that? I'll put them buttons in the grid and turn to auto size. (Nooooo). That didn't work...after trying everything I could think of I gave up and started searching. When in doubt google it :p
This was what helped me! http://goo.gl/EQR60. Well the thing is thought that this didn't completely fixed the problem so I had to improvise alot little. I ended up with a grid-ception. Basically put the buttons in a grid and then put the grid in a viewbox and the viewbox in another grid alongside with a viewbox for the other button (yeah I couldn't put them all in the same it was messing it up for some reason) and aaaal that in the big grid we all know and love. Got confused? Well try to explain it then it's harder.

Scam microsoft call....
As if Microsoft would waste time with one computer. Like really now. If you ever happen to get a call and be asked about your computer and that you have errors etc. you are HACKED!Close the internet, close the phone and FORMAT YOUR COMPUTER! I went along to get their ip address up to a point and the next day my computer crashed so I formatted either way. Now the thing is that the people on the phone were not well informed. First of all they didn't know Dreamspark. Secondly they didn't know that in windows 8 Microsoft Security Essentials is replaced by Windows Defender (epic fail!). So after talking with several technicians/charlatans for an hour or so they tried to convince me that
1.format wouldn't solve the problem (duuude format solves everything!)
2.There was nothing absolutely I could do
3.None antivirus would save me
4.My only option was to buy Microsoft security essentials from them cause Microsoft doesn't give it online (like hell I would!) (and it wouldn't work on Windows 8 even if they were legit)
5.Or send the pc to England to a certified technician (seriously now)
The highlight was when he said that I had a Trojan affecting my bios and then said it was affecting the OS.... Get your story straight or GTFO! The only word for them was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBS
I did call the internet crime unit of the police but it seemed to me they could do nothing. I did sent them an email with the guys ip address (doubt they will use it) and a video of my screen during the call.
So if someone actually reads this and ends up getting a phone-call from someone from "Microsoft" curse the guy in any language you can think of, close the phone and format. It wouldn't hurt to contact the police if you happen to get the ip or the name of the caller.

And then came the idea!
While talking to my friend about it the thought occurred: I'm a designer I'm not scared of anything.I can do this! So our next project for the lab was to make the design for the app in blend. Now that was the easy part (Oh the happiness of working in familiar territory!) so I fired up photoshop and started searching for brushes. You know how much it sucks when you can't find exactly what you are looking for?Well this is one of those times... 10 brushes I'll never use later I realised I could just find (or make) vectors/images without background! Yeaeeeee!!
Next facebook status was: "Don't know if my windows 8 app will be working but it's gonna be beautiful!"
Yeah it is gorgeous! Space brushes and zodiac sign brushes are enough to do the work on the background. But do I need simple buttons?NO!It's a biiig NO! I'm not going to settle for less when I've done so much work. Every other astrological sign has and well...they are boring. I don't like boring. I didn't do something extravagant I just created my own buttons! Oh the beauty of it all. I took advantage of what I've heard somewhere: " If you are doing something everybody does, make sure to do it better and differently." That's what I'm trying to do here. It's a simple enough project so far and everybody (and I mean everybody) can make a windows 8 app with just what is in blend, so I'll do more.

In the beginning there was a project...
As a student in Digital Systems (University of Piraeus) we have a variety of projects but this is the most interesting. Develop a metro app for the Windows 8 app store! Amazing right?Windows 8 were just released and we already have a lesson with them! Well my excitement got the best of me and I chose to participate while having no knowledge of programming at all! Isn't it how all the bad ideas begin and then you say "oh God why?".
Well there I was after 1 lab lesson staring at the suggestions for the project and my thoughts on them:

- Where I parked my car? No way
- Kino/Joker number generator Easy but boring
- TV program what is a tv?nope
- Task manager HA!I could use that but wouldn't make it :p
- Expences calculator This would give my Dad a heart attack...
- Photo processing Sounds hard...
- Voice modification Even harder
- App for soldiers Like suggestions for food or map?hmmm...NO
- Quiz That's more like it...but too easy
- Services for our department I'm not gonna do your work....
- Useful phone numbers If you have time to open the app then you don't need them.
- IP calculator thinking about it...but would be too simple.
- Calculator Like so many others.
- Baby names No way!!!
- Strikes Would give me a hard time...On my TO DO list once I get better
- Tic-tac-toe Boriiiiing!
- Chess I don't know how to play it let alone built it.
- any table game in digital form Nope.
- zodiac signs Now we're talking.This can be fun...
- Hotels app Naaaa.
- First aid Useful but needs a lot of reading and spesifics.
- Puzzle Game What's with the games?
- Survival from wild animals Now that would be FUN to watch.
- Fairy-tales I don't want to do a simple book and the alternative is tough!
Well kinda like that and wanting to get a good grade and learn something I resolved in doing the signs app...
